Web poker has become globally celebrated recently, with televised championships and celebrity poker game shows. Its popularity, though, stretches back in reality a bit further than its television scores. Over the years numerous variants on the original poker game have been created, including some games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Regardless of the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely affiliated with chemin de fer than traditional poker, in that the gamblers wager against the house rather than each other. The winning hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little bluffing or different kinds of boondoggle. In Caribbean stud poker, you are expected to ante up prior to the croupier broadcasting "No further bets." At that moment, both you and the house and of course all of the other players attain 5 cards each. After you have looked at your hand and the bank's first card, you must either make a call bet or bow out. The call wager's value is equal to your original ante, which means that the risks will have doubled. Abandoning means that your wager goes instantaneously to the dealer. After the bet comes the showdown. If the bank does not have ace/king or better, your wager is given back, including a sum in accordance with the initial wager. If the house does have ace/king or greater, you win if your hand defeats the casino's hand. The casino pays cash equal to your wager and fixed odds on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Even for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for 2 pairs
  • three to one for 3 of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • five to one for a flush
  • 7-1 for a full house
  • 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • 100-1 for a royal flush
