Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative feedback from other people kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for poker. He states that he's picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his achievements. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
